
Steelheads Add Nickerson And Naurov

Boise, ID - The Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL announced today that right winger Matt Nickerson has been reassigned from the club's AHL affiliate, the Iowa Stars, and forward Alexander Naurov (NAH-rahv) has been reassigned by their NHL affiliate, the Dallas Stars. Also, in two separate transactions, forward Justin Johnson was released from his contract while center Charlie Johnson has been placed on the 3-day IR.
In his second professional season, Nickerson has three assists and 97 penalty minutes in 40 games with Iowa and 23 penalty minutes in five games with the Steelheads. A defenseman by trade and standing at 6'4", 238 lbs., the native of Old Lyme, Connecticut is making his third stint with the Steelheads this season and will skate with the club as a right winger for the remainder of his time in Boise.
Naurov, a rookie from Saratov, Russia spent the beginning of this season playing with Assat Pori of the Finnish Elite League, where he collected two assists in 11 games. Drafted 134th overall by the Dallas Stars in 2003, Naurov is listed at 5'11", 195 lbs., and can play both center and wing. Prior to going to Finland, the 22-year-old spent several seasons in the Russian Super League.
"Nickerson and Naurov are two young players that come from our affiliation and we are excited to add them to our lineup", Steelheads' head coach Derek Laxdal said. "These additions give us some depth that we haven't had for much of the season."
Both players are expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Steelheads host the Fresno Falcons at 7:10 p.m. MST.
