Alabama Steeldogs News Release

Birmingham, Ala. - The Alabama Steeldogs 2007 training camp gets under way this weekend, with player meetings and non-contact workouts on Saturday and Sunday.

The team will begin workouts in full pads at the BJCC Arena on Tuesday.

"This is always an exciting and crucial time for our team," Steeldogs Head Coach Ron Selesky said. "We really start to see where we are personnel-wise and what works or doesn't work with the players we have."

The Steeldogs welcome a number of af2 veterans to this year's camp, including eight returners from the 2006 squad and a total of 17 players with experience at the pro level.

"This is a very talented and experienced group of players," Selesky said. "There's going to be a lot of competition for starting jobs in the next few weeks."

Over the next three weeks, Selesky and assistant coaches Billy Dicken and Bryan Ray will cut the team down to a final 22-man roster.

The Steeldogs open their 2007 season on the road against in-state rival Tennessee Valley on March 30 in Huntsville. The team faces South Georgia two weeks later in its home opener at the BJCC Arena on April 12 at 7 p.m.

Season ticket packages are still available for the Steeldogs' 8th Season in 2007! Call (205) 458-8833 for more information or visit the Steeldogs' Official Website, Steeldogs.com.
