BOARDMAN, Ohio. - The Mahoning Valley Thunder announced today that Mike Case and Christian Aleshire will form the official broadcast team for the 2007 season. Cumulus Broadcasting is The Official Broadcast Partner of the Thunder.
All Thunder games will be broadcast on ESPN 1240 AM (WBBW) and simulcast on 96.7 FM The River. Broadcasts of all 16 regular season games and any playoff games will also include a 15-minute pregame and 10-minute postgame show.
Case will handle the play-by-play duties for the Thunder games. He is currently the WFMJ Today Live reporter and spent five years as one half of the Double Coverage sports team. A graduate of Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary, Case graduated from John Carroll University in 1991. He has worked at WOIO (CBS) & WUAB in Cleveland, WAKC (ABC) in Akron and has done play-by-play for WAPS (Akron Public Schools). Case has also done sideline reporting for the then SportsChannel, which is now Fox Sports Ohio.
Aleshire, who will serve as the duo's color analyst, is no stranger to the Valley. The 1997 graduate of Warren John F. Kennedy high school earned his bachelor's degree in telecommunications from Youngstown State in 2002. Currently, he can be heard on ESPN 1240 AM The Fan. Aleshire began his broadcast career in 2002 with Y-103 and served as the program director with ESPN 1240 AM until 2006. A resident of Mineral Ridge, Aleshire is an avid Chicago Bears fan and cheers for the Indians, Cavaliers and Notre Dame Football.
