Steel Sweep Weekend

Bensenville, IL (February 16th, 2014) - The Chicago Steel completed a sweep of their weekend games by taking down the Tri-City storm 4-2 on Sunday afternoon. The Steel had previously beaten Team USA and the Muskegon Lumberjacks this weekend.

The Steel jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and never looked back. Mason Bergh started the scoring off with a goal 7:20 into the game. The goal was Bergh's fourth of the weekend. Robbie Payne picked up his first of two assists of the night on the goal. Later on in the period, Alec Vanko and Fredrik Olofsson both netted powerplay goals. The assists in the game went to Brian LeBlanc, John Ernsting and Payne.

The Storm first got on the board in the second. Chase Berger scored unassisted at the midway point of the period. The Steel answered less than five minutes later when Jake Bunz found John Ernsting breaking out of the zone. Garret Gamez scored the second and final Tri-City goal with less than two minutes left game.

Chris nell stopped 42 of the 44 shots he faced en route to the victory.

Olofsson, Payne and Nell were named the three stars of the game.

The Steel are back in action next weekend with three games, starting on Friday night in Des Moines. They are back on home ice on Saturday(7:05 start vs Muskegon) and Sunday 3:05 start vs Youngstown).
