CLIMBING THE CHARTS: The Indiana Ice continued to build on their Eastern Conference lead as the team picked up five of six possible points in three weekend contests against the Tri-City Storm and Team USA. Ice goaltender Hayden Stewart's shutout streak came to a halt on Friday as the Storm potted their only goal of the weekend with just over eight minutes remaining in Friday's 4-1 decision from Pan Am Pavilion. Although not a shutout, the streak was good enough to set a new franchise record for consecutive scoreless minutes at 203:54. Four different Icemen notched goals for Indy in the contest. Jason Pawloski answered the backstopping call in Saturday's 6-0 match from Pan Am Pavilion, stopping all 15 shots for this third shutout of the season. Brian Pinho logged a pair of goals in the contest while Patrick Newell (G, A), Jacob Pritchard (2A) and Denis Smirnov (2A) all recorded multiple-point nights. Indy wrapped up the weekend in Sunday's 6-5 overtime loss to Team USA at Ann Arbor. Tschantz ripped home two lamp lighters while Newell (2A), Smirnov (2A) and Scott Conway (G, A) each had a pair of points in the match.
ONE FOR THE BOOKS: Hayden Stewart's impressive scoreless streak came to a halt during Friday's 4-1 victory over Tri-City, but not before the Rockford, IL native would set the franchise record for consecutive scoreless minutes at 203:54. The previous benchmark (182:04) was held by Calgary Flames prospect Jon Gillies-Providence which was set during the 2010-11 campaign. Since joining the roster in mid-January, Stewart has posted a perfect 6-0-0 record with a 0.67 GAA and a .971 save percentage.
FOUR SCORE: Ice forward Dwyer Tschantz gave opposing goaltenders a headache this weekend as the Cornell University commit is riding a three-game goal streak with four lamplighters in the stretch. In his first full season with the Ice, Tschantz sits second on the team with 17 goals while ranking second in the league in shooting percentage (.274) and tied for third in game-winning goals (5).
FIGHTING THROUGH THE PAIN: A brutal schedule hasn't slowed down the Ice as the team has played six games in ten days, recording a 5-0-1 record in the process. The stretch has been made even more impressive considering the Ice held opponents to one goal or less in four of the contests with three shutouts. In the six-game run, Indy more than doubled up the competition in the goals column by outscoring them 24-10.
PLAYER WRAPS: Austin Kosack (+34) and Josh Jacobs (+28) lead all league defensemen in plus-minus rating...Jason Pawloski is second in the league in wins (21) and fourth in GAA among goaltenders with 20 or more games (2.45)...Denis Smirnov has four assists in his past two games...Brian Pinho has four goals and a +4 plus-minus rating in his past four games...Aidan Muir is riding a four-game point streak with four points (2G, 2A) in the stretch...Patrick Newell has four points (G, 3A) in his past two games.
TEAM PASSES: Indy is second in the league in winning percentage (.756) and only two points behind the league-leading Waterloo Black Hawks (67)...The Ice tied the franchise mark for goals in a period with five goals in the second period Saturday against Tri-City... Indy is riding a six-game home winning streak...The Ice lead the league in shots against per game (24.37) and are second in shots per game (34.40)...Indy has outscored opponents 63-32 in the third period.
ALUMNI REPORT: Justin Agosta (09-10) handed out three assists and Casey DeSmith (09-11) made 33 saves for New Hampshire in a 4-3 win over Boston University on Friday...Nic Dowd (09-10) registered three points for St. Cloud in a weekend sweep of Minnesota-Duluth...Nick Mattson (09-11) recorded three points for North Dakota in a weekend sweep of Miami.
