GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The Chicago Steel (9-2-3-0; 21 pts.) took control early against the Green Bay Gamblers (5-5-0-0; 10 pts.) with four goals in the first period and two more in the second en route to a 6-2 victory Friday night at Fox Valley Ice Arena.

Steel forwards Sam Lipkin and Zam Plante each picked up a pair of goals as Anthony Dowd and Adam Fantilli added markers for the Steel. Nick Haas made 36 stops in net to improve his record to 6-1-0-0 between the Steel pipes.

Despite being outshot 8-0 to start the game and 21-12 after the first frame, the Steel capitalized on their chances, jumping out to a 4-1 advantage after opening period, the club's highest first period output in 14 games this season.

Steel defenseman Jake Livanavage stripped the Gamblers penalty kill of the puck and fed Chicago defenseman Lukas Gustafsson, who connected with Lipkin for the first Steel marker just past halfway through the first period.

Just over a minute later, Steel defenseman Anthony Dowd dangled through the Gamblers defense, tucking home his third goal of the year to give Chicago a 2-0 advantage.

Haas made a possible 'save of the year' stop with his paddle, preserving the 2-0 score when he dove from left to right, extending his stick to keep a loose puck out of the net.

University of Michigan commit Adam Fantilli scored his seventh goal of the season, rocketing a shot from slot to give the Steel a commanding 3-0 lead.

The Gamblers responded by cutting the deficit to 3-1 when Brody Lamb netted his third goal of the year, shoveling home a second chance opportunity on the man advantage.

Plante scored 43 seconds after the Gamblers tally, barging to the net and tucking in his first of the evening, giving the Steel a 4-1 lead after the first frame.

In the second period, Carolina Hurricanes prospect Jackson Blake added his 13th assist of the season. Blake maneuvered behind the Gamblers defense, sizzling a pass to Plante bringing the score to 5-1 a little over five minutes into the frame.

Lipkin potted his second powerplay goal of the night to give the Steel a 6-1 lead with six minutes to play in the middle frame. The Arizona Coyotes prospect is now tied for the team lead with seven goals.

The Gamblers made a push in the third period, with Cameron Lund scoring early to cut the deficit to 6-2. Despite the early marker, Green Bay couldn't stack the momentum as Haas turned away eight shots in the final period, sealing the 6-2 victory on home ice.
