
Steel Acquire Egle in Thursday Trade with Madison

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The Chicago Steel announced Thursday that they have acquired forward Haralds Egle via trade from the Madison Capitols in exchange for forward Marcel Godbout. Egle is expected to join the Steel for the team's games this Friday and Saturday in Fargo, N.D., against the Force.
Egle, 19, has scored three goals and added 16 assists for 19 points this season with the Capitols. A 5-foot-10, 188 pound right wing, Egle has tallied 69 points (25+44) in 116 career USHL games with the Capitols and Muskegon Lumberjacks.
The Liep?ja, Latvia native most recently represented his home country at the 2016 IIHF U20 World Junior Championship (Division I - Group A) in Vienna, Austria, alongside Steel defender and fellow Latvian, K?rlis ?ukste. In five games, Egle scored one goal and two assists, helping Latvia win the tournament and earn a promotion to the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship in Montréal, Qué, and Toronto, Ont., Canada.
In exchange for Egle, Madison receives forward Marcel Godbout. The Detroit native was previously named Chicago captain on Oct. 30, 2015. Godbout was originally acquired by the Steel in a 2014 trade with the Waterloo Black Hawks. In 143 combined USHL games with the Steel, Black Hawks and Des Moines Buccaneers, Godbout has recorded 36 goals and 27 assists. The 19-year-old helped the Steel win the bronze medal at the 2015 Junior Club World Cup in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
Chicago continues its season-long, 10-game road trip this weekend with a two-game visit to Fargo to take on the Force. Chicago will return to Fox Valley Ice Arena for its next home game Sunday, Jan. 17 at 3 p.m. to take on Muskegon. This game will feature Mommy, Minions and Me Day.
