Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa - In the midst of his first full United States Hockey League season, defenseman Christian Meike has been acquired by the Waterloo Black Hawks, the team announced Thursday.
Meike appeared in 22 games for the Sioux City Musketeers. Turning 20 this January 23rd, the future Michigan Wolverine has two goals and six assists. Meike recorded a pair of multipoint games last month, with two assists on December 5th against Team USA and two more on December 12th versus the Youngstown Phantoms. Meike made his USHL debut October 30, 2013 as a Musketeer affiliate during a matchup against the Fargo Force.
Adding Meike, the Black Hawks now have active players committed to four of the Big Ten's six hockey programs. The group includes Garrett Wait and Sam Rossini (Minnesota), Tony Stillwell (Wisconsin), and Ronnie Hein (Ohio State).
In an unrelated roster move, the Black Hawks traded defenseman Mason Anderson to a junior team outside the USHL. Anderson had appeared in 14 games with four assists and a +1 plus/minus differential.
The Black Hawks are on home ice this weekend for games against the Tri-City Storm on Friday and Saturday. Waterloo currently trails Tri-City by two points in the USHL Western Conference standings. Good seats remain for both matchups and can be ordered from the Domino's Black Hawks Box Office by calling (319) 291-7680 or by visiting waterlooblackhawks.com.
