
Steamwheelers Making Splash in AFL Week 10

DAVENPORT, Iowa â Week 10 of the Arena Football League proved to be one of the most productive yet for five former Quad City Steamwheelers.
Heading the list of this weekends performers was former âWheelers offensive specialist Ira Gooch. He hauled in four passes for 65 yards on offense and had an assisted tackle and pass breakup on defense in the New Orleans VooDoo loss to the Orlando Predators. Gooch now plays wide receiver/linebacker for the VooDoo.
2003 af2 Offensive Player of the Year and current Indiana Firebirds backup quarterback Tony Zimmerman completed 3 of 4 passes for 38 yards including a touchdown. Zimmerman also rushed for four yards in the Firebirds 65-31 victory over the Carolina Cobras.
Despite falling 80-63 to the Arizona Rattlers, Las Vegas Gladiators fullback/linebacker Frank Carter and wide receiver/defensive back Dennison Robinson had productive games. Carter rushed five times for three yards and added a tackle on defense, while Robinson had a tackle and returned three kicks for a combined 40 yards.
Last but not least Austin Wranglers offensive lineman/defensive lineman Jamarr Ward rushed for a touchdown in the Wranglers 42-46 victory over the Georgia Force.

The Steamwheelers have opened their Fifth Anniversary season with two wins over the Manchester Wolves and sit atop the latest af2 Coaches Poll. This weekend the Steamwheelers welcome the second ranked Tennessee Valley Vipers to The MARK of the Quad Cities to add another chapter to the af2's biggest rivalry.

The arenafootball2 league is in its Fifth Anniversary season and serves as the AFL's developmental league. The arenafootball2 (af2) league consists of 25 teams in medium-sized markets with the purpose of training players, coaches and officials for higher levels of football. Several former af2 coaches have joined AFL teams and more than 175 players have advanced to the AFL over the past three years.
