
Steamers Trent Miller Named CPL Rawlings Hitter of the Week

EDENTON, N.C - The Edenton Steamers of the Coastal Plain League announce today that Trent Miller has been named the CPL Rawlings Hitter of the Week for week nine of action.
Miller, a 6-0, 215-pound right-handed first baseman and outfielder from Middle Tennessee State University in the NCAA Division I Sun Belt Conference batted .517 from July 22nd - July 28th. He finished the week 15 for 29 at the plate, blasting two home runs, three doubles and driving in 10 runs for the Steamers, who went 6-1 during the stretch. The Kansas City, Mo., native added five runs and slugged a ridiculous .828 over the week.
For the Blue Raiders, Miller finished his spring batting .296 in 56 games. He picked up 64 hits, scoring 36 runs, smacking 20 doubles and leading the squad with eight home runs, 50 RBIs and slugging average at .500. He walked 26 times and went two-for-two in stolen bases.
This summer, Miller has been one of the best hitters for the Steamers. Through 39 games for the teal and black, Miller is leading the team in batting average and third in the CPL at .340 and his 50 hits leads the club as well putting him fourth in the league. He is tied for second on the team in runs with 31 and his seven home runs are good for fourth in the league and second on the team. His 30 RBIs place him third on the team along with his eight doubles. Miller is slugging .537, he's walked 10 times, swiped 10 bases and has made only one error in the field while splitting time between first base and left field.
Miller becomes the fourth Steamer to earn a CPL Rawlings Player of the Week award in 2013 and only the second hitter to do so. He joins Josh Hampton who won CPL Rawlings Hitter of the Week for week one and Nick Miller and John Williams who won CPL Rawlings Pitcher of the Week for weeks six and seven respectively. Miller also becomes the 28th position player to earn the honor for Edenton since 1998.
