Staten Island Yankees Players and Coaches to Shave Heads to Help

STATEN ISLAND- On Monday, Aug. 1, Staten Island Yankees players and staff will shave their heads in support of the fight against pediatric cancer with the Vs. Cancer Foundation following the conclusion of the team's game against the Auburn Doubledays at 7 p.m.

Half of all proceeds raised will go the local pediatric ward at SIUH Northwell Health with the other half supporting national cancer research. Fans are encouraged to donate to the Staten Island Yankees' team page at www.team.vs-cancer.org/StatenIslandYankees. Donations will be accepted through Friday, Aug. 5. Donations will also be accepted at the ballpark during Staten Island Yankees games through Tuesday, Aug. 2.

Players participating in the promotion include Taylor Widener, Radley Haddad, Eduardo Navas and Jerry Seitz, as well as team president Will Smith. Fans are also welcome to participate by visiting the team's fundraising page and clicking "Join Team" and can have their head shaved during Monday's game. The Staten Island Yankees are the Single A-Short Season Affiliate of the New York Yankees and play at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St. George.
