-SPIKES BACK TO PINCKNEY PLAY WITH SAWBUCK SERIES: The Spikes face the Williamsport Crosscutters tonight in their sixth and final matchup at Historic Bowman Field in 2008. The Crosscutters clinched the 2008 SawBuck Series with their win last night, extending their lead to 7-3 on the year. Williamsport is also traling, 18-16, in the series, and has now taken 9 of the 17 games at Historic Bowman Field.

-LAST NIGHT: The Crosscutters' four-run fourth inning, capped by Jim Murphy's three-run homer, was enought to avert a late Spikes comeback and give Williamsport the win, 5-4. Daniel Hargrave also homered for Williamsport in the second inning. Chase d'Arnaud, on the same day his brother Travis d'Arnaud was called up from Williamsport to Single-A Lakewood, collected three hits for the Spikes to up his average to .320. Ciro Rosero also had a multi-hit game for State College. Alan Knotts threw 4.1 scoreless innings to keep the Spikes within three runs. After scoring two on a Josue Peley single in the eighth, though, Michael Schwimer was able to get the final six outs for his sixth save of the year.

-TONIGHT'S SPIKES STARTER: Left-hander Rudy Owens gets the start tonight for State College. Owens retired the last 14 hitters he faced in his last start on Monday against Aberdeen. The lefty has faced Williamsport three times this year at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, going 0-2 with a 7.20 ERA. However, in his last outing against the Crosscutters, Owens went four innings, allowing only one run on two hits and a walk.

-TONIGHT's CROSSCUTTERS STARTER: Left-hander Jacob Diekman will go to the hill for Williamsport. Diekman was shelled for four runs on five hits and three walks in his last start against State College ten days ago. However, Diekman came back with a complete game, six-inning win against Staten Island in his most recent outing, striking out a season-high seven batters.

-ONLY ONE D'ARNAUD LEFT IN THE NYPL: With the call-up of Williamsport catcher Travis d'Arnaud, Chase d'Arnaud will represent the NL and the family in the NYPL All-Star Game.
