-SPIKES FINISH SERIES WITH MUCKDOGS: The State College Spikes and Batavia Muckdogs meet for the final game of a three-game series tonight. The Spikes will try to snap a seven-game slide, the longest streak of losses in team history, and tie the all-time series at 13.
-LAST NIGHT: Batavia scored five in the fifth inning and five in the sixth to take the lead, and held on for the win, 12-7. The Spikes scored four runs late to provide the final margin, thanks to four Muckdogs errors in the frame. The total of five errors by Batavia is the most by a State College opponent this year. Chase d'Arnaud went 3-for-5 with 3 RBI for the Spikes. Mike Williams finished the game with a scoreless eighth. Williams has not allowed a run since making his first appearance in a month back on July 22nd in Lowell.

Ortiz has struck out 20 and walked eight on the year for State College. Last time out, Ortiz allowed two runs on five hits and a walk to Mahoning Valley. Ortiz also struck out two. Ortiz will be backed up by Ryan Kelly in the Spikes' piggyback system.
-TONIGHT'S MUCKDOGS STARTER: Jameson Maj (pronounced May) gets the start for Batavia. The right-handed Maj has a save in addition to his four decisions on the year. In 35 innings over 9 appearances, Maj has 31 strikeouts and just three walks. Opponents are hitting .242 against Maj on the year. In his last appearance, Maj allowed two runs on four hits to Williamsport at Historic Bowman Field this past Monday. Maj also struck out four.

-SPIKES HEADING TO OHIO: State College will next head to Mahoning Valley for a two-game series against the Scrappers. It will be the first two-game set for the Spikes this year.
