-SPIKES LOOK FOR SERIES WIN TONIGHT: The Spikes can get their first series win of the year in the rubber match of their three-game series with the Auburn Doubledays. The Spikes took the first matchup, 9-5, but fell last night, 7-1.

-LAST NIGHT: The Spikes picked up seven hits before their first and only run in the fourth inning. That run scored when Chris Simmons knocked in Calvin Anderson with a sacrifice fly. Ramon Aguero retired the first seven batters he faced, but allowed two runs in the fourth before leaving the game. Auburn then chipped away, with two runs in the fifth, two in the seventh, and another in the eighth for the win.

-GUERRERO TO THE HILL: Emilis Guerrero makes his third start of the year tonight on the mound. In his last outing , Guerrero pitched five solid innings, giving up a single run on five hits while walking none and striking out four to get the win at Bowman Field June 23 against Williamsport. On the year, Guerrero has a 2.00 ERA in his first two starts

-AUBURN BRINGS IN WELLS: For the Doubledays, Josh Wells takes the ball tonight. The 6-foot-7 Australian is 2-0 with a 0.90 ERA so far in 2008. In each of the two starts he has made, Wells has gone five innings ,with less than five hits given up in both starts.

-SERIES RECORD: The overall record between these two teams over three years now stands at 15-10 in favor of Auburn. Auburn has taken 8 of 14 games at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, while the Doubledays hold a 7-4 edge in games at Falcon Park.

-DOUBLING UP: Calvin Anderson's five doubles are tied for second in the New York-Penn League, behind the six hit by Phil Disher of Tri-City. Anderson's seven extra-base hits also trail Disher by three, and his .605 slugging percentage is good for fourth in the league.
