Salt Lake City Stars News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, earned a 131-125 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at Vivint Arena, with the help of Utah Jazz two-way player Johnny Juzang's double-double contribution.

Johnny Juzang began the first quarter with a quick 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting and Salt Lake ended the quarter with a couple quick baskets, giving them the momentum to head into the second 30-27. In spite of foul trouble and an early 10-2 early run by the Vipers, The Stars were able to rally back in the second, thanks to 10 points by Juzang.

Despite a 66-66 tie to enter the break, the Stars reemerged to outscore the Vipers 38-22 in the third, ending with Juzang hitting 30 points. In the final stretch a battle commenced as the Vipers cut their deficit to two-points. However, the Stars halted Rio Grande Valley's ending the game 131-125, as they grabbed their fourth-straight victory.

All five Stars starters finished the game in double-figures. Juzang secured a double-double with an astounding 36 points on 12-of-21 shooting, including 5-of-12 from downtown, to go with 10 rebounds. Frank Jackson added 27 points, while Stacy Davis contributed 20 points and eight rebounds. Jeenathan Williams also tallied a double-double on the night with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Rio Grande Valley's Cassius Stanley scored a team-high 23 points. Two Vipers players captured double-doubles: Jalen Lecque with 21 points and 10 assists and forward Darius Days with 20 points to go with 11 rebounds. Mustapha Heron poured in 18 points off the bench.

Salt Lake City now heads out on a three-game Eastern Conference road-trip, beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at the home of the Greensboro Swarm. Tip-off is at 5 p.m. MT and will be streamed on NBAGLeague.com.
