Stars Sign Auburn Native Cam Vickers

TACOMA, WA. - The Tacoma Stars have announced the return to the Stars of Auburn native Cam Vickers. The signing of Vickers counts as a return to the team as he appeared in one game for the Stars during the team's 2014-15 inaugural season in the MASL. Per team and league policies, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Vickers, who played his collegiate soccer at Sonoma State, appearing in 68 games for the Seawolves, also spent a significant amount of time with the Tacoma Tide. He saw action in 45 games for the club between 2008-2011 before moving to the Portland Timbers U-23 organization.
After playing for several teams over the ensuing nine years, Vickers eventually found his way back to a team guided by his original Tacoma Stars coach Darren Sawatzky. This time it was on the East Coast with the Richmond Kickers of the USL League One.
The circle is now complete as Vickers returns to his home state and he is ready to go with the Stars.
Vickers said, "I'm really excited, being from this area it's always good to get to play in front of family and friends and represent where you're from. Obviously, the Stars have a historic name and I'm happy to be a part of it."
Tacoma Stars General Manager, Nick Perera, echoed the connection between Vickers and his Northwest roots.
"Cam is a well-known entity in our community and someone who exemplifies professionalism in everything he does. We are very pleased he'll be staying home this winter in Tacoma with his hometown Stars," said Perera.
Fans' first opportunity to see Vickers in action with the Stars at the accesso ShoWare Center comes on Saturday, December 9 at 7:05 pm when Western Conference rival San Diego Sockers come to town to close out a season-opening home-and-home series.
