Admiral to Sponsor Stars
British company Admiral Sportswear will supply all player and coach apparel to the Minnesota Stars this season. Admiral is the same company that supplied gear in the '70s and '80s to the Minnesota Kicks and other clubs in the original North American Soccer League.
"What's old is new again," said Paul Hamburger, CEO of Admiral. "We are breathing new life into this brand that used to be on the jerseys of the giants of the game. Admiral is back and bigger than ever. We are the brand that represents soccer and its 24 million players in the U.S."
Admiral was the first brand in the United Kingdom to grace the jerseys of sports teams. The company supplied the playing kit for major clubs in the U.K., the United States and Canada, including Manchester United, Leeds United, Los Angeles Aztecs, New York Cosmos, Tampa Bay Rowdies and Vancouver Whitecaps.
The Stars will unveil their new home kits at a party at Cantina #1 on the top floor of the Mall of America. In addition to the jersey unveiling, Twin Cities soccer fans can get a first look at other exciting Stars merchandise for the 2011 season and mingle with the team's players. Replica jerseys will also be available for pre-order. The event will start at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 7.
