Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (MARCH 30, 2011) - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers had their uniform unveiling celebration last night at The Hard Rock Cafe at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

"Tonight was the culmination of a long, remarkable journey that sees us breathe life back into the legacy and legend that is the Fort Lauderdale Strikers," states Commercial Director Tommy Knapp. "The place was packed! It was great to have so many fans join us at the Hard Rock Cafe to share in the excitement about the team and jersey- the stripes are back and we can already hear the fans chanting Red and Yellow, Red and Yellow, Red and Yellow!"

The presentation of the Strikers new uniforms started with a special introduction video that honored the Fort Lauderdale Strikers from the late 1970's and early 1980's. A welcoming speech by Team President Tim Robbie followed the video. Afterwards, Head Coach Daryl Shore introduced the team and coaching staff to the season ticket holders, corporate partners, Strikers Alumni and Supporters groups. Romney Rogers, Vice Mayor of the City of Fort Lauderdale and Mike Ryan, Mayor of Sunrise, attended as well and were on stage to present the Special Edition Centennial Jersey.

The unveiling included the new home, away, and goalie jerseys, as well as a special 'Centennial jersey' to honor Fort Lauderdale's 100 year anniversary. The Special Edition Centennial Jersey, which will be worn by the team during the Centennial Match on May 14th against Tampa Bay, is identical to the striped home jersey used throughout the regular season with the addition of the City of Fort Lauderdale's 100 Year Anniversary patch on the right sleeve and the 40 Year Commemorative patch of the Hard Rock Cafe centered over the heart of the jersey. The new home jersey carries the classic design with red and yellow striping and the Strikers' away uniform is white with the 'Strikers' text in the placed in the center of the jersey.

The Strikers kick off this season on April 9th at 7:30 PM at Lockhart Stadium against Edmonton FC. For more information, visit strikers.com.
