Stars Fend off Lumberjacks 5-4; Androlewicz Picks up First Career Victory

MUSKEGON, MI - Goals from five different goal-scorers helped the Lincoln Stars (18-14-5) close out the Muskegon Lumberjacks (17-17-4) 5-4 on Saturday night at L.C. Walker Arena.
In his 100th career game in the USHL, Travis Treloar notched his 13th goal of the season at 17:13 of the first period. Forty-two seconds later, on a delayed penalty, Colby Enns would fire a shot from the slot over the left arm of Lumberjacks goaltender Eric Green to give the Stars a 2-0 lead.
Rhett Pitlick would cut Lincoln's lead in half with under 30 seconds to go in the opening period. After 20 minutes, the Stars led 2-1 and outshot Muskegon 10-6.
Early in the second period, the Stars would be put on a 5-on-3 power play for 31 seconds at the 2:27 mark. Ty Glover would capitalize, pounding home his own rebound for his 7th goal of the season.
Danil Gushchin would answer quickly for Muskegon with his 18th goal of the year after Alex Gaffney forced a turnover in the Stars defensive zone. The Russian-born forward's goal came at 6:06. Cam Berg would tie the game at three with his 15th tally 12:56 into the second period.
Despite Muskegon's newfound momentum, it would be the former Lumberjack Brock Bremer burning his former team for the second consecutive game. Bremer maneuvered off the nearside half-boards through a defender and deked to the backhand for his 11th goal of the 2019-20 campaign.
After two periods, the Stars were up 4-3 and controlled the shot totals 22-14.
With a one-goal lead, the Stars were given a power play under seven minutes into the third period. Glover, who lost his stick shortly after the ensuing faceoff, kicked the puck from the end boards to the near side post where Christian Sarlo would backhand it past Green at 6:52. Sarlo's fourth goal of the weekend was also his third on the power-play, giving him eight goals with the man-advantage this season. The Penn State commit is t-4th in the USHL in that regard.
As the game was nearing its end, the Stars were faced with a four-minute penalty kill, following a double-minor for high-sticking assessed to Tony Follmer at 15:51. Jack Williams would score at 17:24, forcing the Stars to kill off a full two minutes of power-play time.
Lincoln was successful, keeping Muskegon off the scoresheet despite heavy pressure from the home team. In his first start with the Stars since being acquired from the Sioux City Musketeers, goaltender Connor Androlewicz made 25 saves on 29 shots. It would be the University of Maine commit's first victory in the USHL. Green made 20 saves on 25 shots in the loss.
The Stars' power play was 2-for-3, marking a stretch of 8-for-24 over their last seven games. They killed off two of three penalties.
Lincoln has picked up points in three consecutive games (2-0-1) and five straight on the road (3-0-2).
