Phantoms Earn 3 of 4 Points in Cedar Rapids

The Phantoms opened the scoring, striking before the halfway point of the first period. Cedar Rapids was sent to the penalty box at 7:50 and seven seconds later the puck was in the net. Matthew Cassidy tapped in a shot/pass from Georgi Merkulov at 7:57, giving Youngstown the 1-0 lead. After a scoreless second period, Cedar Rapids tied the game with a power play goal from Nikolai Mayorov at 6:31 of the third, forcing overtime. With 1.5 seconds remaining in overtime, Nate Hanley snapped a shot past Dominic Basse's blocker to give the RoughRiders the overtime victory.

Pretty passing on the power play put the RoughRiders ahead 1-0 late in the first period on a Zach Faremouth goal at 16:45, but Youngstown answered twice on the rush in the second period to grab the lead at 2-1. Matthew Cassidy tapped home a centering feed from John Beaton 32 seconds into the period, and Caleb Price scored his first goal as a Phantom at 11:16, sniping the top corner off a pass from Yusaku Ando. Max Sasson tied the game at 2-2 at 18:39, stuffing one past Dominic Basse during a net-front scramble. Just when the game seemed destined for overtime for the second night in a row, Bradley Marek shoveled a loose puck into the cage with 28.9 seconds remaining in regulation to give Youngstown a 3-2 victory.
