JUPITER, FL - The Florida State League has announced that Palm Beach Cardinals outfielder Starlin Rodriguez is the Player of the Week for the period April 14-20.
Rodriguez had a big week for the Cardinals at the plate, going 8-for-21 with three home runs, three doubles, seven RBI, and six runs. The 5-10 slugger boasted a .381/.480/.952 slash line for the week and is hitting at a .347 clip (17-for-49) overall this season.
Rodriguez, 24, led the Cardinals to two comeback victories over the last two games against the Charlotte Stone Crabs at Roger Dean Stadium. He clubbed two homers on April 18, including a three-run shot in the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie and propel Palm Beach to an 8-3 victory. The following night on April 19, Rodriguez connected on his third long ball in two games, recorded three RBI, and tallied three runs to pace the Cardinals offense in a 13-9 win over the Crabs.
In the final two games of the week alone, Rodriguez went 5-for-9 with three home runs, a whopping seven RBI, and five runs to help the Cardinals improve to 8-8 on the year.
