
Stamps to honour Pitts

(Calgary) - The Calgary Stampeder Football Club is pleased to announce that former Stampeder Receiver Allen Pitts will be honoured during the halftime of the 42nd Labour Day Classic.
Allen played 176 games with the red and white from 1990 to 2000. During his 11 years he caught 966 passes (2nd all-time in CFL) for 14,891(1st all-time in CFL) yards both of which are Stampeder all-time records. The next closest is Tom Forzani who played from 1973-1983 catching 553 passes for 8,285 yards. Pitts also recorded 117 touchdowns which again is a Stampeder record ahead of Tom Forzani who recorded 62 during his career.
He also holds Stampeder records in receptions during a season (126 â 2nd all-time in CFL), touchdowns in a season (21), receiving yards in a season (2,036 â 1st all-time in CFL), most consecutive games catching passes (85), most seasons catching passes in all games (9), most 100 yard receiving games in a career (64 â 1st all-time in CFL), in a season (11 â tied for 1st all-time with 4 other players), most 1000+ receiving yards in a season (9 tied 1st all-time in CFL with Terry Vaughn and Darren Flutie) and scoring 706 points (117 Td, 2-2 point conversions) behind 3 kickers in Stampeder history (Mark McLoughlin, J.T. Hay and Larry Robinson).
During his career Allen had been named Western All-Star and CFL All-Star 6 times, Northern All-Star one time and led the CFL in receiving catches and yards four times.
The Stampeders will host the Edmonton Eskimos on September 6, 2004 for the 42nd annual Labour Day Classic with a kick off at 1:30 pm.
