(Calgary) – Today Calgary Stampeders' Head Coach and VP of Football Operations, Tom Higgins, announced the free agent signing of Receivers James Williams and James Terry, Defensive Back Jermaine Chatman and Canadian Offensive Lineman David De La Perralle.

As per Club policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

"Williams is an experienced receiver with great top end speed," stated GM Jim Barker. "Along with his offensive ability we expect him to be a contributor on special teams, as he was a dynamic kick returner at Marshall."

"Terry is a 6'5" receiver with great leaping ability" stated GM Jim Barker. "His combination of size and speed will create problems for opposing corners."

"David is a 6'7" 330 lbs offensive lineman with an incredible amount of ability," stated GM Jim Barker. "He started as a true freshman at the University of Kentucky and we expect him to add quality depth to our Canadian talent base."

"In 2003 Jermain was the top cover corner in NFL Europe," stated GM Jim Barker. "His physical nature will be a great fit in our defensive system."

Played his 3rd season with the Seattle Seahawks ... played in 13 games starting 2 of them recording 9 catches for 99 yards ... James also recorded 21 kick returns for 354 yards with his longest being a 46 yard return.

2001

Played in 6 games starting 2 of them ... recorded 12 catches for 212 yards and one touchdown ... had a big game on December 12 vs the San Diego Chargers ... recording 4 catches for 101 yards and one touchdown ... James also showcased his talent on November 4 vs the Washington Redskins recording 2 catches for 69 yards ... one of which was 49 yards which remains a career long for Williams in the NFL.

2000

Saw action in 10 games, including the season opener in Miami (9/3). Posted his first NFL catch against the Dolphins ... returned three kickoffs for 76 yards (25.3 avg.) vs. New Orleans (9/17) when Charlie Rogers did not play ... saw extended playing time at Carolina after Derrick Mayes suffered a finger injury in warm-ups ... responded with two receptions with 31 yards with a long of 18 ... declared inactive weeks 8-10 and weeks 13, 15, and 17, alternating fourth string wide receiver duties with Karsten Bailey ... caught two passes for 20 yards week 14 at Atlanta (12/32) ... rushed once for -5 yards at Miami (9/3).

College

Transferred to Marshall after two years at Hinds (Miss.) Community College ...first-team All-Mid American Conference selection after catching 47 passes for 880 yards and 13 touchdowns his senior year ... also returned 15 kickoffs for a 32.9-yard average and one score ... recorded three games over 100 yards receiving, including a season high 164 on four catches versus Miami (Ohio). During his junior campaign, he caught 26 passes for 591 yards (22.7 avg.) and four touchdowns, including a 91-yard score versus Troy State ... returned 12 kickoffs for a 25.2-yard average.
