Stamps Shop for Shelter

Calgary Stampeders players and members of the Stampeders Outriders will team up on Apr. 30, 2009 for a charity shopping challenge in support of the Canadian Women's Foundation's "Shelter from the Storm" campaign.

Who: Mike Labinjo, Randy Chevrier, Dimitri Tsoumpas and members of the Stampeders Outriders

What: Three teams will compete in a race to shop for clothing and household items which will then be donated to a local shelter for abused women

When: Thursday, Apr. 30, 2009 at 8:30 a.m.

Where: Winners at Signal Hill Centre, 5498 Signal Hill Rd. S.W.

Defensive linemen Mike Labinjo and Randy Chevrier and offensive lineman Dimitri Tsoumpas will partner with members of the Stampeders Outriders and compete in a race to shop for clothing and household items which will then be donated to local shelters for abused women.

"This is a cause that the Stampeders organization has supported in the past and we're proud to help whenever possible," said Chevrier. "This should be a fun event and I'm looking forward to winning the challenge."

About Shelter from the Storm

Shelter from the Storm is Canada's largest national fundraising campaign dedicated to ending violence against women. Funds raised will support community violence prevention programs and more than 450 shelters for abused women across Canada (including six shelters in Calgary). The campaign runs from Apr. 13 until May 10.
