Stamps Re-Sign O'Neill And Ellis
January 11, 2010 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release
Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that non-import offensive linemen Tim O'Neill and Godfrey Ellis have signed contract extensions with the club. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
"Godfrey and Tim are valuable members of our offensive line and I expect them both to push for starting jobs in 2010," said Hufnagel. "They did some good things in 2009 and I look forward to seeing them continue to progress."
O'Neill enters his third season with Calgary and fourth in the Canadian Football League. He dressed in every game for the Stamps last season and started in 14 of the contests including the Western Final.
"First with the University of Calgary and now the Stampeders, I've really enjoyed my time in this city," said O'Neill. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to remain in Calgary and I'm looking forward to the new season."
Ellis, who is entering his sixth season with Calgary, dressed for each of the Stamps' 18 regular-season games in 2009 and both playoff games. He was originally drafted by Calgary in the second round (10th overall) of the 2005 CFL Canadian Draft.
"I've been with the Stampeders since the start of my career and I couldn't be any happier about re-signing with this team," said Ellis. "Calgary is my home now so I'm glad that we were able to get this done."
