Stamps Re-Sign Franklin
January 28, 2010 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release
Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that non-import receiver Arjei Franklin has signed a contract extension with the club. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
"Arjei has proven to be a productive receiver during his Canadian Football League career," said Hufnagel. "He did a nice job of learning on the fly after arriving from Winnipeg last season and I look forward to getting him into the offensive mix from the first day of training camp."
Franklin had five catches for 53 yards in two starts for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last season before being acquired by Calgary in a mid-season trade. He dressed for the Stamps' final seven regular-season contests and had five grabs for 40 yards. He added four catches for 85 yards and a touchdown in two post-season games.
"I enjoyed my time in Calgary last season and in the short time I was there, I learned that the Stampeders are a very professional organization," said Franklin. "I'm excited to be in Calgary moving forward and can't wait to get the season started."
Franklin enters his fifth season in the CFL after being drafted by Winnipeg in the third round (19th overall) in the 2006 CFL Canadian Draft.
