Radio: 770 CHQR, SiriusXM 167

Second place in the West Division is on the line on Saturday when the Calgary Stampeders play host to the BC Lions. Kickoff at McMahon Stadium is 5 p.m.

It's the second of three regular-season meetings between the Stamps and Lions, with the clubs meeting once more next week in Vancouver.

In the first matchup of the season at McMahon in Week 10, BC beat Calgary 41-40 in a high-scoring thriller. The Stampeders have since won three of four games to improve to 8-4 while the Lions have managed one win in three tries and sit at 8-3.

Calgary's most recent outing was a 56-28 victory over the Elks in Edmonton while BC dropped a 31-10 decision to the Alouettes in Montreal.

The Stampeders-Lions contest features the two highest-scoring teams in the CFL - BC leads the way with 31.7 points per game and Calgary is marginally behind at 31.6 points per contest.

The Lions' output has dropped significantly in two games since an injury to starting quarterback Nathan Rourke as BC has scored a combined total of just 26 points in suffering consecutive losses. The Leos recently acquired Vernon Adams Jr. in a trade with the Alouettes and have named him the starter for this week's game.

Meanwhile, Jake Maier has been under centre for Calgary for the past three-and-a-half games and the sophomore pivot has completed 75 of 98 passes for 975 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions during that stretch.

The Stamps are 3-2 at home this season and 4-4 against West Division opponents. The Lions are 4-1 on the road and 5-2 against the West.

Day of the Dino

Saturday's contest features a celebration of the partnership between the Stampeders and the University of Calgary.

The Day of the Dino includes special game-ticket pricing for University of Calgary students, faculty and alumni. In addition, proceeds from the 50/50 draw will benefit Dinos Athletics, Dinos student-athletes will be featured in various game-day activities and U of C mascot Rex O'Saurus will team up for hijinks with Stamps mascot Ralph the Dog.

Ticket sales for the 50/50 draw are already under way and will close at 11 p.m. on Saturday. More details are available at

Over the years, 49 Dinos have gone on to play for the Stamps including seven members of the current roster for the Red and White - receivers Jalen Phlipot and Richie Sindani, offensive linemen Sean McEwen and Ryan Sceviour, defensive backs Elie Bouka and Nick Statz as well as linebacker Charlie Moore.
