 Calgary Stampeders

Stamps Headed to the Left Coast

June 12, 2024 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release

The Calgary Stampeders open the road portion of their 2024 Canadian Football League schedule on Saturday with a visit to Vancouver's BC Place and a meeting with the Lions. Kickoff is at 5 p.m. MDT.

The Stamps have won 10 of 12 regular-season visits to BC Place since the start of the 2014 season.

Calgary is looking to start the new season 2-0 after winning its home-opener against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats by a score of 32-24. Meanwhile, the Lions were on the wrong end of an eight-point decision as they lost 35-27 to the Argonauts in their Week 1 game in Toronto.

The Stamps and Lions met three times during the regular season in 2023 with BC winning two of three contests. Calgary's season then came to an end with a 41-30 loss to the Leos in the Western Semi-Final.

The Stampeders featured a balanced attack in their Week 1 win over the Ticats as they threw for 252 yards and rushed for 117. Jake Maier completed 21 of 26 passes and connected with no fewer than eight different receivers including touchdown throws to Cam Echols and Clark Barnes.

The Lions got a great performance from Vernon Adams Jr. in a losing cause as the veteran quarterback threw for 363 yards but BC's hopes for victory were dashed by the five turnovers they committed.
