
Stamps Face Lions First-Place Showdown

For the second time in the past four games, the Calgary Stampeders duel with the BC Lions with first place in the West Division on the line. Kickoff for Friday's game in Vancouver is 8 p.m. MDT.
The Stamps (5-1-1) have a one-point lead over the Lions (5-2) and the teams have split their two regular-season meetings to date in 2016. Calgary dropped a 20-18 decision at BC Place in the season-opener on June 25 while the Stamps rallied from a late 15-point deficit to pick up a 44-41 overtime victory at McMahon Stadium on July 29.
With that OT win, the Stamps took over first place in the West and they've remained there with the exception of a few hours on Aug. 4 when the Lions temporarily took over top spot after a win in Montreal. Calgary reclaimed the No. 1 position with a home-field win over Saskatchewan in the second game of a Thursday-night CFL doubleheader.
The Stamps are unbeaten in their past six games (5-0-1) including a 19-10 victory in Regina on in Week 8. The Lions are coming off a 45-38 win at home against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
At 32.3 points per game, the Lions lead the CFL in scoring while the Stamps have allowed a league-low 21.7 points per contest. BC has scored a total of 83 points in its two most recent outings while Calgary has allowed just 25 points in the past two games.
The Stamps are 2-1-1 on the road this season while the Lions sport a 2-1 home record.
The Red and White will be back at McMahon Stadium for two games following this week's contest including a Sunday, Aug. 28 date with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (5 p.m. MDT kickoff) and the annual Labour Day Classic contest with the Edmonton Eskimos on Monday, Sept. 5 (a 1 p.m. start).
