Stamps' 2018 Draft Class Is Under Contract

The Calgary Stampeders have signed all nine of the players they selected in the 2018 CFL draft earlier this month.

The group includes offensive lineman Ryan Sceviour (University of Calgary, first round), linebacker Eric Mezzalira (McMaster, second round), defensive back Royce Metchie (Guelph, third round), offensive lineman David Brown (Western Ontario, fourth round), offensive lineman Justin Lawrence (Alberta, fifth round), defensive back Dagogo Maxwell (UBC, fifth round), running back Atlee Simon (Regina, sixth round), kicker Gabriel Ferraro (Guelph, seventh round) and fullback Boston Rowe (Calgary, eight round).

Ryan Sceviour

Offensive lineman

College: Calgary

Height: 6.04

Weight: 305

Born: June 29, 1995

Birthplace: Calgary, AB

Selected: 1st round - 8th overall

An alumnus of Calgary's Bowness High School, Sceviour played four seasons at the University of Calgary (2014-17) and dressed in 43 games in his career. He was named a second-team all-Canadian in 2016 and 2017 and helped the Dinos' offence rush for 1,275 yards in 2017, good for the second-best total in Canada West.

Eric Mezzalira

College: McMaster

Height: 6.00

Weight: 219

Born: Mar. 10, 1994

Birthplace: Hamilton, ON

Selected: 2nd round - 17th overall

Mezzalira played 28 games over four seasons (2014-17) at McMaster and accumulated 95.5 total tackles including 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, three fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and two pass breakups. In 2017, he led the Marauders with 43 tackles and had five tackles for loss.

Royce Metchie

College: Guelph

Height: 5.11

Weight: 203

Born: Sept. 11, 1996

Birthplace: Lagos, NG

Selected: 3rd round - 25th overall

Metchie was second on the Gryphons with 50 tackles in 2017 and the Brampton, Ont., product also had one sack, one interception and one forced fumble. In 28 career games at Guelph, he recorded 108 tackles including six tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and nine pass breakups.

David Brown

College: Western

Height: 6.04

Weight: 285

Born: June 20, 1993

Birthplace: London, ON

Selected: 4th round - 28th overall

Brown is a two-time Ontario University Athletics all-star and in 2017 he was named a first-team all-Canadian. He was part of a Mustangs offence that led the country with an average of 48.3 points scored per game. Western then added 261 points in four post-season games.

Justin Lawrence

Height: 6.00

Weight: 305

Born: Mar 14, 1996

Birthplace: Edmonton, AB

Selected: 5th round - 39th overall

Lawrence played four years (2014-17) at Alberta. In 2017, he was a first-team all-Canadian and blocked for a Canada West-leading rush attack that compiled 1,769 rushing yards. Lawrence was a second-team all-star at centre in 2016 and a first-team all-star at guard in 2015.

Dagogo Maxwell

Born: Sept. 24, 1996

Birthplace: Lagos, NG

Selected: 5th round - 42nd overall

Maxwell, a Calgarian and a St. Francis High School graduate, originally enrolled at the University of Calgary and spent two seasons at receiver. He then transferred to UBC and switched to defensive back. In 2017, he posted 52 total defensive tackles, one tackle for loss, seven knockdowns and one interception. He also returned a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown and was selected to the USports East West Bowl.

Atlee Simon

Born: Jan. 5, 1996

Birthplace: Saskatoon, SK

Selected: 6th round - 50th overall

Simon was a Canada West all-star in 2017 as he became the Rams' all-time leading rusher with 2,943 yards. He finished the 2017 season with 914 rushing yards and three touchdowns while also catching 27 passes for 293 yards and three majors. He had 29 combined rushing and receiving touchdowns in four seasons with the Rams. Simon also competed in track for Regina.

Gabriel Ferraro

Born: Oct. 13, 1995

Birthplace: Mississauga, ON

Selected: 7th round - 59th overall

Ferraro played 28 games over four seasons (2014-17) at Guelph and accumulated 293 points. He converted 69 of 86 field goals (an 80.2-per cent success rate) and 86 of 88 extra points. Ferraro punted the ball 186 times for an average of 36 yards. Ferraro accounted for 112 points in eight games for the Gryphons in 2017 as he converted on 33 of 40 field goals (an 82.5-per cent success rate) and 23 of 24 extra points. The 33 field goals were an Ontario conference record and helped him earn first-team all-star honours. Twelve of his field goals were from beyond the 40-yard mark.

Boston Rowe

Born: June 16, 1995

Birthplace: Edmonton, AB

Selected: 8th round - 68th overall

Rowe played four seasons at the University of Calgary. He was originally a quarterback but he made the switch to linebacker when he made his Dinos debut in 2014. He will line up at fullback at Stampeders rookie camp. Rowe made his first Canada West all-star team in 2016 with a team-leading 53.5 total tackles. He was once again a Canada West all-star in 2017 as he finished second on the Dinos with 40 total tackles in addition to 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two knockdowns and three interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. Rowe attended St. Francis High School in Calgary.
