Stampeders Face Lions in Regular-Season Finale
October 31, 2018 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release
In their 18th and final regular-season game of 2018, the Calgary Stampeders (12-5) will travel to Vancouver looking to limit the BC Lions (9-8) and claim an automatic berth into the Western Final. Kickoff from Vancouver is at 8 p.m. MDT.
Calgary will have one last opportunity to finish first in the West Division following three consecutive losses, the first of which came against BC at McMahon Stadium on Oct. 13. The Stamps have since dropped decisions at home to Saskatchewan and on the road in Winnipeg. Last's week defeat to the Blue Bombers ended 29-21.
BC had won six of their previous seven games before being defeated 35-16 last week in Regina. The Lions are locked into fourth place in the West and will travel to face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Eastern Semi-Final on Sunday, Nov. 11.
BC Place is the final site to play host to the Stampeders this season. The Red and White are 5-5 in their last 10 trips to the West Coast.
These two teams split their previous two matchups this season as the Stamps won 27-18 in Week 8 and lost 26-21 in Week 18. The Stampeders are 5-3 as the visitors this year while the Lions are 7-1 as hosts. Each side will be looking to even up their inter-divisional record from their current 4-5 marks.
Saturday evening will also signify the regular-season finale for the career of BC head coach Wally Buono. A former head coach of the Stamps from 1990-2002, Buono is the winningest coach in CFL history.
