Calgary Stampeders News Release
The Calgary Stampeders are pleased to unveil their game themes for the 2024 Canadian Football League season.
"From longstanding traditions like the Labour Day Classic to newer events such as Heritage Night, there is plenty of entertainment in store for our fans this upcoming season," said Stampeders president Jay McNeil. "We look forward to some great celebrations all summer and fall at McMahon Stadium."
Saturday, May 25 - Pre-Season Opener
The action kicks off with a Saturday matinee at McMahon as the Stampeders face BC in a pre-season clash. Fans can get their first look at the 2024 edition of the Stampeders and warm up for a full season of football fun.
Friday, June 7 - Home-Opener
The Stampeders lift the lid on the 78th regular season in franchise history with a Friday-night home date against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The home-opener, presented by Tim Hortons marks the return to McMahon Stadium of former Stamps quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, who led the Stamps to Grey Cup championships in 2014 and 2018.
June 29 - Family Day/Purolator Tackle Hunger
There's plenty of fun for fans of all ages with the popular Family Day celebration as the Stamps play host to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Pre-game activities at the Gridiron Gardens - located on the practice field immediately south of McMahon - will include inflatables, face painting, games, giveaways, music, food and much more. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or financial donations to the game in support of the Purolator Tackle Hunger program and the Calgary Food Bank.
Sunday, July 21 - Legacy Night
It's Legacy Night, presented by No Frills, as the Stamps face the BC Lions. In this annual event to celebrate the Red and White's proud history, Wally Buono will be added to the Stampeders Wall of Fame in a halftime ceremony. A total of 50 individuals who have made significant contributions to the club have been honoured since the inception of the Wall of Fame in 1985. Before the game, there will be a Gridiron Gardens tailgate party presented by Coors Lights. The tailgate party will feature live music, exclusive alumni meet-and-greet opportunities, food, a beer garden, games and prizes.
Aug. 4 - Heritage Night presented by Shane Homes
Fans at McMahon will get a chance to celebrate Calgary's rich cultural mosaic during the Heritage Night game as the Stamps welcome the Toronto Argonauts. Before kickoff, there will be a special cultural market in the Gridiron Gardens with the sights, sounds and flavours of diverse cultures.
Thursday, Aug. 15 - Country Night
Fans are invited to put on their cowboys hats and boots for an evening of country fun at McMahon as the Ottawa Redblacks provide the opposition. The agenda includes musical entertainment before kickoff and at halftime.
Monday, Sept. 2 - Labour Day Classic/Military Appreciation
One of the great rivalries in Canadian sport continues as the Stamps take on provincial rival Edmonton in the annual Labour Day Classic, presented by ATB. Before the showdown on McMahon turf, there'll be another Gridiron Gardens tailgate party at the south practice field. The Labour Day Classic also gives the Stampeders to express appreciation to Canadian armed forces personnel. Members of the military will be the team's special guests in the stands and there will be an always-thrilling jet flyover before kickoff.
Saturday, Sept. 14 - Indigenous Celebration
The defending Grey Cup-champion Montreal Alouettes will be in town on an evening the power and beauty of the Indigenous culture is celebrated. The evening will feature traditional performances, storytelling and interactive opportunities.
Friday, Sept. 20 - Fan Appreciation Night
The best fans in the CFL are front and centre as the Stampeders pay tribute to their supporters. There are prizes to be won and, following a battle against West Division rival Saskatchewan, there will be a dazzling fireworks display choreographed to music.
Saturday, Oct. 12 - PinkPower
The annual PinkPower game, presented by Mayfair Diagnostics, is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the fight against women's cancers. Limited-edition pink merchandise will be available for purchase. Halftime features a performance by the Junior Outriders and, after the final whistle, lucky fans in attendance will have the chance to win game-worn jerseys that will be presented by the players.
