
Stampede Weekly Update: Stampede Travel To Youngstown

Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
The Stampede (19-8-8) make their longest trip of this season this weekend when they travel 974 miles to Youngstown, Ohio to face the Phantoms, Friday and Sunday. Friday's face-off is scheduled for 6:15 PM (Central) and Sunday's game will be played in the afternoon at 2 PM. Both games can be heard "live" on News Talk 1320 KELO-AM or fans can watch the game on the B2 Networks.
The Stampede currently sit in third place in the West Division, just five points behind Fargo for second place. The Herd went 2-1-0 last weekend with wins over Team USA and Lincoln. On Wednesday, the Herd topped the U.S. Under-17 squad 8-2. 13 different players recorded at least a point in the victory while Lino Chimienti earned the win in goal. On Friday, the Stampede out shot Cedar Rapids 47-31, but fell 10-1. The following night, the Herd rebounded with a 1-0 overtime victory over Lincoln. Dan Furlong recorded the game winner in OT while Clay Witt earned his league leading fourth shutout of the season with 32 saves in goal.
Youngstown is 14-19-2 on the season and in sixth place in the East Division. The Phantoms lost a pair of 3-2 games to Waterloo and Cedar Rapids over the weekend. Taylor Holstrom leads the team in scoring with 28 points (9g, 19a) in 35 games.
Applebee's Fan Bus Deadline is Wednesday!
The Stampede Hockey Club is working on a FAN BUS to Sioux City, IA coming up FEB. 6TH (Saturday). The trip is in partnership with APPLEBEE'S, our new Stampede corporate sponsors. Cost per person: $20 for bus and game ticket.
The Stampede need at least 48 fans booked in order to take the trip. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday. If interested, send an email to Jim Loria ( loria@sfstampede.com) by Wednesday.
APPLEBEE'S (Empire East in Sioux Falls) will serve as the pre-game gathering place. The bus will depart at 5:20 for Sioux City and will return after the game. Your restaurant purchases would be above & beyond the trip price. Sign up today and cheer on the Herd in Sioux City on February 6th!
4 Stampede Players to Take Part in USHL All-Star Game Tuesday Night
Matt Lindblad, Chad Ruhwedel, Mike Voran and Clay Witt will represent the Stampede at the USHL All-Star Game this Tuesday night at 6:15 PM (Central) at the Pepsi Coliseum in Indianapolis. All four players will suite up for the West Division as they square off against the East Division.
Fans can watch the game "live" on the B2 Networks beginning at 6 PM. Last year, the East Division posted a 4-1 victory over the West Division in Sioux Falls.
Stampede players have had a history of success at USHL All-Star Games, taking home MVP honors five times in the club's 10-year history ( Rick Gorman in 1999, Thomas Vanek in 2001, Jim McKenzie in 2003, Andreas Nodl in 2005 and Corey Tropp in 2006).
Stampede Players Take Part in "Frosty Frolics" Sunday
Stampede players Lino Chimienti, Sam Coatta, George Michalke and Dominic Zombo took part in the Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation "Frosty Frolics" event Sunday afternoon at Tuthill Park.
The players skated and played hockey kids at the park. They also took time to demonstrate some skills of hockey and signed autographs.
3rd Annual Sioux Nation Pet Clinic Wiener Dog Race Just 2 Weeks Away!
The 3rd Annual Sioux Nation Pet Clinic Wiener Dog Race is just around the corner! The race will take place on Saturday, February 13th against Green Bay. Be sure to check out the Stampede website ( www.sfstampede.com) in the coming days for information on how you can register your dog!

Vermeulen Shinning at St. Lawrence
Former Stampede forward Travis Vermeulen currently leads the St. Lawrence Saints in scoring with 24 points (11g, 13a) in 25 games. Vermeulen tallied two assists in a 5-2 win over Brown on Friday and then recorded two goals, including the game winner, and added an assist in a 4-2 win over Yale on Saturday.
Another former Stampede forward, Jake Drewiske, tallied two goals for the Saints, including one shorthanded, in the win on Friday. The Saints are 13-8-4 overall on the season and in second place in the ECAC with a 7-3-2 record. St. Lawrence will travel to Cornell and Colgate this weekend.
