Idaho Stampede News Release
Congratulations to five former Stampede players who have advanced on to the NBA playoffs. Damon Jones and Ira Newble (Cleveland Cavaliers), Awvee Storey (Washington Wizards), Smush Parker (LA Lakers) and Randy Livingston (Chicago Bulls) will all be participants in the 2006 NBA playoffs.
Livingston and Jones are no strangers to the playoffs. Livingston has played in 17 playoff games (starting in 3 of them) and Jones has played in 30 (starting in 20 of those games) and averages 9.1 points and 4.1 assists in the post-season.
Newble, Parker and Storey will all make their playoff debuts with Newble and Storey going head-to-head in the first round.
Here is how the playoffs begin (from a Stampede perspective): On Saturday, Jones, Newble and the Cavs will host Storey and the Wizards at 3pm ET in Cleveland (ABC). Then at 8pm ET, Livingston and the Bulls will open in Miami against the Heat (ESPN).
On Sunday, the final Stampeder, Parker, and the Lakers will travel to Phoenix to take on the Suns starting at 3:30 pm ET (ABC). Parker will be challenged by veteran point guard and 2005 MVP Steve Nash.
