Idaho Stampede News Release

BOISE, Idaho (December 13, 2005) - The Idaho Stampede has announced that they are partnering with the U.S. Marine Corps to collect toys for needy children in the Treasure Valley. The Stampede will have collection bins available at the December 20th, 22nd and 23rd home games at Qwest Arena. Each person that donates a toy will receive a free ticket to a future Stampede home game. Toys should be new and unwrapped.

"This is a wonderful cause," said Stampede president and general manager John Brunelle. "We are proud to be a part of the U.S. Marine Corps' premier community action program."

The Toys for Tots program was started in 1947 by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves with the goal of delivering a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders. According to First Sergeant Bill Heyob, the Toys for Tots program collected over 37,000 toys for 11,000 kids last year. The Stampede hope to fill an entire Dodge Ram truck with toys collected over the three nights.

The Stampede will return home on December 20th to Qwest Arena to play the Gary Steelheads. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. The toy bins will be in the Qwest Arena lobby. Monetary donations may also be made.
