Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce lost to the Dakota Wizards tonight 101-94 (6, 1) to move to 6-5 on the season. The second straight game against the Wizards was up for grabs in the final quarter and the 'Force could not come away with a split on the road. The Wizards improved to 7-3 and currently lead the league in quarter-points average (4.6).
Coming off a tough overtime loss to the Wizards, the 'Force needed to bounce back with a victory to catch up in the standings. It looked like a possible blowout early as the Wizards raced ahead 13-2 halfway through the opening quarter. The Wizards pushed the lead to as many as 16 points (26-10) and would win the first quarter 29-20. The 'Force would cut the lead to two points early in the second quarter (30-28), but that would be as close as they would get as the Wizards would run off 16 unanswered points and built a 51-32 lead, their largest of the game. The 'Force would cut the deficit to 12 points as they trailed at halftime 59-47. Dakota won the second quarter 30-27. A 10-0 run to start the second half cut the lead to 59-57 with just over 7:00 to go in the third quarter. The Wizards would not relinquish the lead as they were ahead 77-71 after three quarters. The 'Force won the third quarter 24-18. The 'Force completed the comeback as they finally tied the game at 82 a piece on a three-point play from Jemeil Rich with 8:30 to go in the game. Another three-point play by Rodney Buford would give the 'Force their first lead of the game as they went ahead 85-84. The 'Force had their biggest lead of the game (92-89) with just over 5:00 to go, however, they would only score two more points the rest of the game to drop their second straight game against their archrival.
The Skyforce's next game is on Friday, December 16th, at home against the Idaho Stampede. Tip-off is set for 7:05 pm at the Sioux Falls Arena.
