BOISE, Idaho (February 28, 2006) - The Idaho Stampede have announced that they have re-signed forward Matt Freije. Freije will be available for Tuesday's game against the Dakota Wizards after his contract was finally cleared Tuesday afternoon.
Freije began the season with the Stampede and played in 22 games before heading to Greece to play with Olympiakos. While with the Stampede he averaged 19.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 48% from the field. He left the Stampede for Europe on January 9, 2006.
The Stampede continues their push to clinch a spot in the playoffs as they will play two against the Dakota Wizards on Tuesday and Wednesday. The team can clinch a birth in the playoffs (and eliminate the Wizards) by winning 8 of the available 14 quarter points in their upcoming games against the Wizards. The Stampede travel to Sioux Falls for a Friday night game against the Skyforce and then return home to finish out their remaining three regular season games at Qwest Arena beginning Tuesday, March 7.
