Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
Yakima, WA - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Yakama Sun Kings tonight 100-92 (5.5, 1.5) to improve to 27-16 on the season. The 'Force finished the pivotal roadtrip 3-0 and returns home this weekend riding a season-high eight-game winning streak. Yakama dropped to 27-17 with the loss and has lost four straight games at home.
The 'Force had taken over first place in the standings with the win on Saturday night and knew they needed to win again to maintain their hold on first. Both teams traded baskets in the opening quarter and the 'Force eventually won the quarter 25-24 as Corey Williams (pictured above) made two free throws with :08 seconds remaining. Neither team could take control in the second quarter as the score remained close. Antwain Barbour made two free throws to tie the quarter at 23 a piece but the 'Force led 48-47 going into the locker rooms. The 'Force played extremely well in the third quarter as they won the quarter 30-22 and led 78-69 going into the final stanza. The Sun Kings salvaged the fourth quarter (23-22), however, they dropped their fourth straight home game and missed out on a chance to regain first place in the Western Conference. Corey Williams had an outstanding game for the 'Force as he posted a triple-double (15 points, 14 rebounds, 13 assists), his second on the season.
The Skyforce's next game is on Friday, March 3rd, at home against the Idaho Stampede. Tip-off is set for 7:05 pm at the Sioux Falls Arena.
