Idaho Stampede News Release
BOISE, Idaho (February 24, 2006) - The Idaho Stampede have announced that they have signed 6-7 forward Desmond Ferguson. This gives the team nine players available for this weekend's games after placing Josh Davis on the Inactive Reserve and David Jackson negotiating with a team overseas. Ferguson will wear jersey #20.
Ferguson was most recently playing in Frankfurt, Germany with the Deutsche Bank Skyliners. The Detroit, Michigan native began his college career at Missouri and then moved to Detroit Mercy where he averaged 14.6 ppg and 5.1 rpg as a senior in 2000. He was the only player in school history to make at least 70 3-pointers in three different seasons.
The Stampede is the fourth CBA team that Ferguson will have played with. Previously he was with the CBA's Flint Fuze, where he averaged 23.3 ppg, and Great Lakes Storm, averaging 22.9 ppg. During the 2003-2004 season Ferguson played with the Rockford Lightning before signing with the NBA Portland Trailblazers for 7 games. Overseas, he has played professionally in Holland, Italy, Philippines, Dominican Republic, Spain and Bulgaria in addition to Germany.
The Stampede have two games at Qwest Arena this weekend. On Friday they take on the Sioux Falls Skyforce and on Saturday they will play the Gary Steelheads. Both games tip-off at 7:10 p.m. and doors will open at 6:00 p.m.
