Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
Sioux Falls, SD-The Sioux Falls Stampede set the all-time USHL single season attendance record Friday night with a crowd of 8,028 at the PREMIER Center. The Stampede finished the season with 191,280 total fans, surpassing the old mark of 189,844 fans set by the Omaha Lancers during the 1997-98 season. The Stampede, who already broke the USHL single season record during the TIER I era, finished the season averaging a league best 6,376 fans per-game at the PREMIER Center, up 48% from last season in which they led the league in attendance averaging 4,256 fans per-game at the Sioux Falls Arena.
"It's been a remarkable season," said Stampede CEO/President Tom Garrity. "Stampede Country has been simply amazing. We have been blown away by the support we have received and can't thank our season ticket holders, housing families and corporate sponsors enough. It says a lot about our great community and the great people that live here. We can't wait for the playoffs and for the future of Stampede hockey," added Garrity.
Outside the USHL, the Herd rank in the top four in attendance amongst all 28 ECHL teams ("AA" professional hockey), sixth in all of 59 Division I college hockey programs and seventh among all 30 American Hockey League (AHL) teams, the top affiliate league of the NHL.
The Stampede close out the regular season tomorrow (Saturday) night when they travel to Fargo to face the Force at 7:05 PM. Fans can catch the game live on KELO News Talk 1320-AM, 107.9-FM and online at KELO.COM.
Sioux Falls' quest for the Clark Cup begins this Tuesday, April 14th at the PREMIER Center against either Tri-City or Sioux City. Tickets are on sale now at the KELOLAND Box Office or any Ticketmaster location. The first 3,000 fans through the doors will receive a free Stampede rally towel and a pre-game tailgate party will take place from 4:30-6 PM just inside the PREMIER Center with food, drinks and games. A complete Western Conference Semifinal series schedule will be made available as soon as the Stampede's opponent has been determined.
