Stampede Set for 3-In-3 During Hockey Week South Dakota

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Sioux Falls Stampede is set to host three games in three days this week, starting with the Team USA National Team Development Program on Jan. 11 and 12 followed by the Omaha Lancers on Jan. 13. On Friday, the Herd will celebrate all of the hockey moms of Stampede Country with Hockey Moms Night, presented by The Diamond Room by Spektor. The week concludes with Hockey Day South Dakota on Saturday against the Lancers.

Thursday and Friday's series against the NTDP will be the first time the two programs have met since Jan. 4, 2020. The Herd swept the National Program, 7-3 in the first game and 2-1 in the second. This season, the NTDP U18 team is 19-9-4-0 and the full program holds 24 points in USHL Eastern Conference standings. The team is ranked seventh in the East. Meanwhile, the Herd is 16-13-2-1 in the USHL and sits in third place in the West with 35 points.

The Lancers hold a 7-20-3-0 record this season with 17 points holding them in eighth place in the Western Conference. The Herd and Lancers have met three times this season with the Herd holding the 2-1 advantage. The solo home game of this series, a November 11th matchup, saw the Herd taking two points with a final score of 4-2. Omaha will also play on Jan. 11 and 12, at home, against the Sioux City Musketeers and Lincoln Stars before travelling to Sioux Falls.

On Thursday, the Herd will celebrate Billet Family Night thanks to Vern Eide Motors. Prior to the game, the Stampede's billet families will be honored on the ice. Friday is Hockey Moms Night at the Denny where the Herd will honor local Hockey Mom MVPs with a special puck drop ceremony pregame. Finally. On Saturday, the Stampede wraps up Hockey Week South Dakota with a full day of youth game at the PREMIER Center, followed by the Stampede hosting the Lancers at 6:05 p.m.

On the schedule for Saturday, there will be a special appearance from Siouxland Sled Hockey following warmups. The Herd will also skate out with youth hockey players from around the state and chuck-a-puck is set for the second intermission. Proceeds from chuck-a-puck will go to the South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association. The full schedule of Hockey Day South Dakota, presented by Hockey Headquarters, is as follows:

10:15 a.m. - Boys Bantam A - Watertown vs Brandon Valley

12:00 p.m. - Boys JV - Watertown vs Brandon Valley

2:00 p.m. - Boys Varsity - Watertown vs Brandon Valley

6:05 p.m. - Sioux Falls Stampede vs Omaha Lancers

Next weekend, the Herd will play its first two-game series against the Lincoln Stars in Lincoln, Neb. The team will then head on the road for the 2024 Frosty Cup in Frisco, Texas on Jan. 25 and 26 before returning home on Jan. 30th.
