Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
Sioux Falls, S.D. - The Sioux Falls Stampede selected 15 players in Phase I of the 2025 USHL Draft. Phase I is considered the "Futures Draft," meaning all selected players were born in 2009 or 2010 and will be entering their first year of eligibility in the USHL next season.
With their first pick in the 2025 Phase I Draft, the Stampede selected center Ethan Sung, who has spent the last two seasons at Shattuck-St. Mary's. The Pasadena, Calif., native recorded 59 points (17g, 42a) in 47 games last season with the Shattuck-St. Mary's 16U AAA team. He ranked fourth in scoring among his teammates, including Stampede affiliate Cooper Soller.
In the second round, with the 27th overall pick, the Stampede selected defenseman Cameron Minella from Darien, Conn. Minella notched 37 points (7g, 30a) in 34 games last season at Brunswick Prep School.
Sioux Falls added two more centers in the third round. With the 41st overall pick-acquired via trade with the Madison Capitols-the Stampede selected Isaac Davis from NorthStar Christian Academy. The Rockland, Mass., native tallied 57 points for the school's 16U AAA team. With their second third-round selection, Sioux Falls picked Drew Fox from the Dallas Stars Elite 16U team. A faceoff specialist, Fox posted an impressive 68 points last season.
The Stampede returned to the blue line with their next two picks. In the fifth round, using a pick acquired from Muskegon, they selected Michael Bonkov from Babylon, N.Y. After playing for the Long Island Gulls 14U team, the 6'2" defenseman joined Bishop Kearney Selects, where he recorded 60 points. They followed that up with the selection of defenseman Jake Prunty from Jefferson, N.J., who put up 44 points with the New Jersey Rockets.
In the seventh round, with the 102nd pick, the Stampede selected forward Caiden Pellegrino from Uxbridge, Mass. The 5'8" left-handed shooter registered 41 points in just 29 games at St. Mark's School. In the eighth round, they chose another 6'2" defenseman, Rylan Hanson, from Elk River, Minn., who spent last season at Elk River-Zimmerman High School.
Without a ninth-round pick, the Stampede made their ninth selection in the 10th round, selecting forward Cole Hajt from the Anaheim Jr. Ducks. The 6'1" lefty scored 26 goals and added 44 assists last season. With the 11th-round pick, they selected Chase Logue, a Philadelphia, Pa., native who played 18 games for Holy Ghost Prep, recording 18 points after an earlier stint with the Jr. Flyers.
With their remaining five picks, the Stampede selected additional forwards and defensemen. In the 12th round, they drafted 6'3" defenseman Dean Zarro, who spent the 2024-25 season with the North Jersey Avalanche. The Herd followed that with Swedish defenseman Noel Stenlund, who represented the Swedish National Team last season.
The final three picks were all forwards. First was Timurs Malisevs, a 5'10" Latvian playmaker known for his sniper shot, who tallied 36 points in 18 games last season. Sioux Falls then selected Oliver Parent, a 6'1" forward from the Colorado Rampage, who posted 29 points in 16 games with the 15U team. With their final pick, the Stampede chose Jack Hinteman of the Long Island Gulls-the same organization that produced Ethan Wyttenbach, Logan Renkowski, and Erik Kald. Hinteman is a left-handed shot who scored 10 goals last season.
"We are very excited about the talent we selected with our picks today," said Stampede General Manager and Vice President of Hockey Operations Tony Gasparini. "Our scouting team did an excellent job identifying exceptional talent, and we are thrilled to welcome these players to Sioux Falls."
Draft action resumes tomorrow with Phase II, where the Stampede will select players born between 2005 and 2008 until their 50-man protected list is full. The Phase II Draft board can be found here. The live draft show begins at 10 a.m., and selections will start at 11 a.m.
