Stampede Lose Control in the Fourth Quarter

Boise, IDAHO (March 18, 2015) - The Stampede fell to the Legends 106-117 Wednesday night despite Shane Gibson's big shooting night. Idaho was outscored 20-39 in the final period and couldn't hold on for the win.
Gibson hit five 3-pointers in the first quarter as Idaho kept pace with the high-scoring Legends. Texas guard Justin Dentmon scored 15 points in an up-and-down first half, helping the Legends secure a 61-60 advantage. Things slowed down in the third quarter as both teams locked in defensively. Idaho took an eight-point lead into the final period when Texas went on a 19-4 run. The Stampede couldn't recover from that point as Texas stretched its lead by 11 points and held on for the victory.
Gibson scored a game-high 26 points and hit seven 3-pointers, bringing him with two of the Stampede single-season record (120) held by Damon Jones (1998-99). Benimon had another big game with 21 points, 17 rebounds and nine assists in 42 minutes. Nick Wiggins added 18 points while Utah Jazz assignment Grant Jerrett pitched in with eight points and 11 rebounds.
Dentmon (23), Eric Griffin (21) and Mike James (20) scored over 20 points as the starting lineup accounted for 97 of the 117 Texas points. Jarrid Famous posted another double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 20 rebounds. Both teams shot 46 percent from the field, but the Legends held the advantage at the free-throw line.
Idaho hits the road this weekend, visiting the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Saturday and then the Reno Bighorns on Sunday.
