
Stampede Lose at the Buzzer

Boise, IDAHO - The Los Angeles D-Fenders defeated the Idaho Stampede at the final buzzer Saturday night at CenturyLink Arena. Vander Blue hit the leaning 3-pointer at the top of the key to finish off a 40-22 fourth quarter advantage.
Idaho led the entire game and by as much as 24 points until the buzzer sounded. Stampede guard Brandon Fields was fouled hard on his injured wrist with 4.7 seconds remaining and a chance to put the Stampede up by three. After he missed both attempts, the D-Fenders advanced the ball to half court with the game on the line. Idaho guard Jared Cunningham got a piece of the inbound pass to knock the ball loose of Blue's possession. After a short scramble, Blue secured the ball and launched it towards the basket for the win.
Grant Jerrett led the Stampede with 27 points and 13 rebounds on assignment from the Utah Jazz. His Jazz teammate Ian Clark scored 19 points and hit five 3-pointers. Jack Cooley finished the game with 20 points and 17 rebounds while Brandon Fields (12 points, 12 assists) recorded his first double-double with the Stampede.
Blue led all scorers with 33 points, scoring 11 in the final quarter. The D-Fenders took advantage at the free throw line, shooting 36-41 at the charity stripe compared to Idaho's 15-24. Roscoe Smith added 18 points and nine rebounds in the winning effort.
The Stampede continue the season on Monday night when they host the Texas Legends at 7 p.m.
