
Stampede Acquire Grun from Cedar Rapids

Sioux Falls, SD- The Sioux Falls Stampede announced today that they have traded a 4th round draft pick in next year's USHL Entry Draft for forward David Grun of Cedar Rapids. Grun, 6'1" 190-pounds, appeared in two games with the RoughRiders this season, posting a plus/minus rating of plus-3 and five shots on goal.
The White Bear Lake, MN native was a second round draft pick of the of the RoughRiders during the 2006 USHL Entry Draft. Grun played last year with White Bear Lake High School where he led the team in scoring with 49 points (25g, 24a) in 28 games.
He was a finalist for Minnesota's prestigious "Mr. Hockey" award, which goes to the top high school hockey player in Minnesota, and was a member of the 2005-06 St. Paul Pioneer Press All-State Team. He has already committed to play college hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
To make room for Grun on the roster, the Stampede had to release forward Brooks DeZellar. DeZellar appeared in two games this year, recording two penalty minutes and one shot on goal.
Grun is expected to join the Stampede this weekend and could be in the lineup as early as Saturday night. The Stampede host the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Friday night and the Des Moines Buccaneers Saturday night at the Sioux Falls Arena.
