The NBA Development League's Dakota Wizards announced today that their NBA Development League draft headquarters will be at Stadium Sports Bar (1247 W Divide Ave) on November 5th, 2009. The D-League Draft begins at 6:00 p.m., but specials and other giveaways start at 5:30 p.m. Sponsors, season tickets holders, and Wizards fans are invited to join the Wizards coaches and front office staff at Stadium Sports Bar as Head Coach Rory White, assistant coach Kevin Rice and staff select the Dakota Wizards roster.
"This is the exciting part - when the roster starts to take shape," said White, the new Wizards head coach. "I'm ready to get the players into Bismarck and prepared for the season."
The Wizards pick eleventh in the draft, which will consist of eight rounds and be conducted via conference call.
If Wizards fans cannot make it to the draft party, the draft will be covered live via NBA TV with coverage beginning at 6:00 p.m. Fans can also follow the draft by logging on to www.d-league.com.
Each of the NBA D-League's 16 teams will be given one pick in each of the eight rounds. No trades will be permitted during the draft and only players signed to an NBA Development League Standard Player Contract are eligible to be selected.
The NBA D-League Draft utilizes a "serpentine" format, meaning the order will be reversed in each of the eight rounds. For example, the Wizards, after picking 11th in the first round, will select 5th in the second round, giving them the 11th and 22nd overall choices.
The Dakota Wizards open at home against the expansion Maine Red Claws on Saturday, November 28th at 7:00pm.
