Rio Grande Valley Vipers News Release
MCALLEN, TEXAS - The NBA Development League's Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today that game broadcasts of their parent club, the NBA's Houston Rockets, will air on ESPN Radio 1240 AM (KSOX) in the Rio Grande Valley.
ESPN Radio is a sister station of Jack 104.9/95.3 FM, which carries Vipers broadcasts. Both are Border Media Properties Radio stations.
"The success of RGV Rocket Launch 2009 played a major factor in our decision to air the Rockets games on ESPN 1240 KSOX. The level of interest in the NBA in the Rio Grande Valley appears to be extremely high and it is growing in popularity in Mexico. We look forward to again hearing the NBA in the Rio Grande Valley on ESPN 1240 KSOX," BMP Radio Program Director Bruce Collins said.
The first Rockets broadcast on ESPN 1240 AM will be the season-opener tomorrow at Portland, with tip-off scheduled for 9:00 p.m.
This will be the second consecutive year in which the Rockets are on ESPN 1240 AM. They are the only NBA team to have their broadcasts carried in the Rio Grande Valley.
