
St. Pierre returns for fourth season

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets announced Tuesday that veteran goaltender Kevin St. Pierre has agreed to terms and will be returning for his 4th season with the Komets. Also agreeing to terms for 2006-07 were right winger David Hukalo and defenseman Kevin Hansen.
St. Pierre, 31, will be entering his 12th season as a pro and 4th with Fort Wayne. St. Pierre owns several Komet UHL goaltender records including most career games with 159, most career wins with 105, most wins in a season with 43 in 2003-04, best goals-against average in a season with 1.98 in 2003-04, most career shutouts with 18 (also has a record 21 UHL shutouts). St. Pierre has been awarded UHL Goaltender of the Month 4 times in his 3-years with the Komets and has been named UHL Goaltender of the Week 11 times as a Komet. St. Pierre was named UHL Best Goaltender for 2003-04 and was honored as the UHL MVP for 2003-04 after backstopping the Komets to their 2nd consecutive Tarry Cup. St. Pierre was named a UHL All-Star in 2003-04 in addition to being selected a first-team all-star that year. Last season St. Pierre was UHL Goaltender of the Month for December and March while posting a 33-17-3 record and 2.32 goals-against average for 2005-06. The netminder also received the Komet's True Komet and Community Service awards for 2005-06.
Hukalo, 28 (July 21), has agreed to return to the Komets for a 3rd season. The Edmonton, Alberta native started the 2004-05 season with Kalamazoo before being acquired by the Komets in a trade. Hukalo appeared in 64 games with the Komets last season registering 13 goals and 32 points while accumulating 56 penalty minutes. 2006-07 will be Hukalo's 4th season as a pro after completing 4 seasons at University of Wisconsin (NCAA) from 1998-2002.
Hansen, 28, is a 5-year pro and hails from Hamburg, New York. The defenseman skated for Motor City the past 2 seasons in the UHL appearing in 130 games scoring 9 goals and 44 points while registering 246 penalty minutes. Hansen, a 2005 UHL All-Star, appeared in the 2005 classic as a member of the Pepsi All-Stars representing Motor City. Hansen was chosen by the Chicago Hounds in the UHL 2006 Dispersal Draft in June. Hansen's rights were then traded to the Komets as compensation for allowing talks with then Komet's head coach Greg Puhalski prior to the UHL 2006 Dispersal Draft.
