JUPITER, FL - When Josh Hodges hit Dilson Herrera with the first pitch of the ballgame on Thursday night it was probably an early sign that the right hander didn't have his best stuff. St. Lucie roughed up Hodges for 10 runs, nine of which were earned, on 13 hits in four innings en route to a 13-3 win over the Hammerheads at Roger Dean Stadium.

After Herrera was hit to start the game, Hodges allowed a one out single to Jairo Perez. Both runners would score two batters later when TJ Rivera doubled and the Mets took a 2-0 lead before the Hammerheads had a chance to bat.

Things didn't improve for Hodges in the second inning. Eudy Pena led off the inning with a double and he scored two batters later when Maikis De La Cruz also hit a two-bagger. Herrera then hit a liner that got by the dive of the center fielder Angel Morales. De La Cruz scored on the play and Herrera ended up at third with a triple.

On the next pitch Brandon Nimmo hit a line drive that curled around the foul pole in right for a two-run homer which extended the St. Lucie lead to 6-0.

Rivera and Cam Maron would add RBI singles and after just one and a half innings the Mets had an 8-0 advantage.

St. Lucie would add two more in the fourth off of Hodges including another RBI single by Rivera who finished the night 4-for-6 with five RBI on the night.

On the bright side Terrence Dayleg continued to have early season success at the plate for the Hammerheads as he went 3-for-4 with a RBI in the loss. It was his third multi-hit game of the season.

Blake Barber also had a pair of hits in the loss.

Gabriel Ynoa picked up his second win for the Mets after he limited the Hammerheads to one run on four hits in six innings. Jake Kuebler pitched the final three innings to earn his first save of the year.

With the loss the Hammerheads fall to 2-5 on the season. On Friday they will welcome the Bradenton Marauders to town for the first time this season as the teams begin a three-game series.

WP: Ynoa (2-0)

LP: Hodges (0-2)
