St. John's Sign Montgomery to PTO

The St. John's IceCaps announced today they have signed Mike Montgomery to a professional tryout contract.

Montgomery, 25, has played in 14 games with the Ontario Reign this season in the ECHL. He spent the last four seasons playing for the University of Minnesota-Duluth. The Lino Lake, Minnesota native was Captain for club during the 2010-11 season when the Bulldogs claimed their first-ever NCAA Championship. In his four seasons with Minnesota-Duluth, the right handed defenceman played in 132 games for 38 points (4g, 34a) and 42 penalty minutes.
